Stupidity

I recently heard a group of young Asian gang banger/ inner city wannabes calling each other "nigga'." They were specifically saying "Nigga' get in the car. Nigga' it's time to go. Nigga' get in the car." This was all said with a accent implicating their newness to the country or at least that they were first generation Americans.

Are generations of Americans being raised by television or something? It's like these punks (proven by their actions) have no concept of what the word nigger really connotes. As Inigo Montoya said to Vizzini in "The Princess Bride," " You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." INCONCEIVABLE!

This is the danger of our anything goes mentality these days. These Asians apparently think that the word is just a cool thing to call a friend if you are a hardcore inner city "gangsta." Perhaps they saw it on MTV or BET or in any music. Do they know the origins from Negro to nigger that it stems. Do they even care? It seems America has denigrated to who can act the most like an adolescent thug from Lord of the Flies.

I never agreed with the thought that "nigger" could be taken from its spiteful connotation and turned in to "good" thing. Perhaps this is a sign of the backfiring of that mentality. Black people could at least make that argument and it would have some validity whether you agree or not. I really don't think any other group can.

I really can't make that judgement though. Only those who are insulted by it can. The best of us in society do not let words hurt. The truth is words only have the power which the "insultee" gives them. This is not my intended point though.

My main point is the lack of intelligence and understanding that seems to flood America these days. Reality TV rules the roost, showing adults acting like inbred teenagers and our children are watching it and thinking this is "normal." One wonders why we seem to be failing as a nation. It isn't all the politicians faults. Though after Bush and Obama I think the movie THE STATE will be more truth than fiction as we move closer to stateism and farther from freedom. We watch the terrible affairs of others on "reality" TV like Romans swarming to the Colosseum. We see more and more "reality" shows spring up just like the emperors had more and more events a the Coliseum to distract the people near the fall of the empire. Impending doom?

Parents wake up. We do not need TV teaching our children. Decency and respect aren't just words, they are the content of ones character. A great man once said something about being judged by it and not any anything else. He said it in a specific way but I'll let the reader, if any, look that up. Learning something from a book/ learning resource instead of TV would be a novel idea. Just a hint; he would not have liked the free use of the word nigger at all.
